Behind-the-scenes Hobbit footage reveals Christopher Lee's humour and humility

Following the sad news that Sir Christopher Lee has passed away, fans around the world have been sharing a behind-the-scenes video from Hobbit trilogy revealing the revered actor's great humour and warm personality.

Owing to his age, Sir Christopher filmed his role as Saruman in London's Pinewood Studios rather than making the arduous trip to New Zealand

I couldn’t do the trip to New Zealand, I shot those scenes here with ordinary people standing there giving me the lines. So you do have to use your imagination quite a bit.

In the footage, Sir Christopher can be seen playfully bickering with the film's production staff about his wardrobe and over-extravagant use of his bushy eyebrows as well has his love for story-telling. Something that clearly stayed with many of those who interacted with him.
