The bizarre moment Conor McGregor and Jacob Rees-Mogg pass each other on New York street

Try to think of two people that are so polar opposites that in no possible way would their paths ever cross.

Like, imagine Gemma Collins and Elon Musk randomly bumping into each other in the supermarket and trying to have a conversation.

Actually, come to think of it, we'd really like to see that.

Yet, real life has a tendency to be stranger than we can ever imagine. Take for instance this chance encounter between a notorious MMA fighter and a Tory MP on Tuesday.

For some bizarre reason, the stars aligned yesterday and both Conor McGregor and Jacob Rees-Mogg passed each other on the streets of New York.

The blink-and-you'll-miss-it-moment occurred when McGregor was leaving his hotel and briefly spoke to some fans.

Then inexplicably, Rees-Mogg and his family who are holidaying in the Big Apple, idly wander into the background of the shot. The moment happens at around 0:17 seconds into the below video.

We're not taking bets but we'd be confident that neither McGregor or Rees-Mogg have no idea who the other is. The Irish fighter was only in New York to face charges relating to a brawl that happened at a UFC event in April.

McGregor got away with a warning for his actions but - and although we can't condone violence - we're thankful in a way, otherwise, we would have never gotten this bizarre interaction.

Once videos and gifs of this bizarre MMA/Tory crossover made it's way onto social media, people began to lose their minds.

On another note, we'd just like to point out that the temperature in New York was around 27C but that didn't stop Rees-Mogg wearing a double-breasted suit jacket on top of the Empire State Building.

His son wore a tank top too. That's a hell of a commitment to their brand.
