Labour Councillor Mark Strong of Chorlton took to Twitter earlier this week to share that his beloved cat Gus had been killed by a car.

He was upset to learn from a passerby that the driver that hit the cat didn't even stop.

Having said his goodbyes, imagine Strong's surprise when Gus and his brother Ralph strolled into the kitchen looking for food a few hours later.

Cllr Strong wrote on his Facebook account, which is now private:

Unfortunately this means I have someone's dead cat buried in my garden.

After some deliberation, Strong decided to exhume the unknown cat and took it to a local vet in hope it can be reunited with its owners, Mail Online reports.

I feel really bad for whoever it belongs to. I know exactly how they will feel.

It goes to show how fast cars go along Barlow Moor Road.
