There’s one thing that no one will ever be able to take away from Trump: that his kids love and support him.

So intense is their adoration that his children often go to embarrassing lengths to defend him and smear his political opponents.

Such an occasion happened this week when Eric Trump attempted to ramp up speculation surrounding Joe Biden’s assets and supposed wealth.

Trump’s middle son posted an aerial photo of what appears to be a very large home, questioning how Biden could afford such a home on a senator’s salary.

"Seems legit", he said:

As ever, there are several problems with this.

First is the issue that, unlike president Trump, Biden has released his tax returns. Trump’s were allegedly leaked to the New York Times and it was reported he paid just $750 in tax in 2017 (though he called these reports “fake news”).

Hypocrisy aside, there’s also the issue that Biden hasn’t owned this particular home for 24 years.

Outlets including the Wall Street JournalandTown and Country Magazine report that Biden bought the property in in 1974, which needed considerable renovations, at a much lower price.

As a young senator and recent widower (his first wife Neilia and their baby daughter Naomi had died in a car accident in 1972), Biden purchased this former DuPont mansion in tony Greenville for $185,000. He nicknamed the 10,000-square-foot house 'The Station,' and it became the campaign headquarters for his first presidential run in 1988. In 1996, Biden sold the house for $1.2 million.

On Twitter, people wasted no time informing Eric Trump of this fact. And also calling out the idea that the Trump family should be pointing fingers over other people's finances.

The responses were as brutal as you'd expect.

Better luck next time, Eric.
