Facebook just made it easier to ignore annoying friends

New parents, people who don't know how to turn off their game notifications and general over-sharers - you can now avoid all of them more easily on Facebook.

A tweak to newsfeed from Facebook allows you to hide specific posts from certain people by clicking on the grey arrow at the corner of the post.

By clicking on this arrow you can also select the option to see fewer stories from this user, or alternatively stop following them completely (but remain friends with them).

A list of people you follow and have unfollowed on Facebook is also available in newsfeed settings, Facebook explained in a video.

The changes, already available on mobile and desktop and set to be added to the app in the coming weeks, do not come quite as close to the level of customisation previously offered, with Facebook scrapping its newsfeed sliders in 2009.
