This Fry and Laurie clip literally sums up British politics right now

A clip from A Bit of Fry and Laurie, the seminal sketch show that ran from 1989 to 1995 and made stars of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, appears to perfectly sum up the Brexit debacle.

In the viral clip which originally aired on British television in 1995, Fry plays a politician who repeatedly explains that “this is a good deal for Britain” to the point that the words lose any semblance of meaning.

The full version of the sketch is even more prophetic since it explains that the politician depicted is reacting to the news that the British government has been bought by Honda. What seemed like a ludicrous conceit at the time now feels ever closer to becoming a reality.

In more recent years Fry has actually made myth-busting videos about Brexit and Donald Trump, making quite clear his own feelings on the state of the world.

Still, at least this is a good deal for Britain.
