George W Bush has kept carefully quiet about his successor Donald Trump.

However, a source close to the Trump administration told The National Journal that the former US president isn’t a massive fan of the current set-up in the White House..

The NationalJournal reported that:

Bush is often heard to remark, unable to stifle his trademark smirk: 'Sorta makes me look pretty good, doesn't it?'

He's shaking his head like everyone else wondering why they can't get their act together.

He wants the guy to succeed but thinks a lot of his problems are self-inflicted.

In 2017, Bush broke his nine-year practise to stay out of politics and, speaking at the George W Bush institute in New York, said:

Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication.

We’ve seen nationalism distorted into nativism.

Though he didn’t mention Trump by name, the statements he made were closely linked to the current President.

Similarly in February, he delivered a seemingly veiled barb to Trump, remarking “there’s pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled” in the US election, which saw Donald Trump become President.
