A former teacher who seduced a 17-year-old boy says she is the victim.

Mary Beth Haglin, 24, said that the boy was very sophisticated with his seduction techniques.

“From a psychological standpoint and from every other standpoint, I feel like I am the victim", Haglin told talk show host Dr Phil in an interview.

Haglin stated that a “bad night” with her then boyfriend triggered her to message the 17-year-old. This led to a nine-month relationship where Haglin sent explicit pictures of herself to the boy.

She claims that the teenager seduced her "with such intelligence and such an elevated vocabulary that I was completely duped by the whole façade. Haglin also said that the teenager would repeatedly ask her out to lunch.

Haglin has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour charges of sexual assault. She has been fired from her job and is now a dancer, according to the Des Moines Register.
