People think the latest episode of Blue Planet is like a horror movie

The BBC's latest eye-wateringly gorgeous documentary series Blue Planet 2 has been winning rave reviews and praise online.

Going deeper and further into the oceans, seas and rivers of the planet, the series has shown many viewers things that they probably didn't believe existed.

However, their most recent episode has been receiving praise of a different kind.

People think its like a horror movie and it is scaring them senseless.

Sir David Attenborough kicks the episode off with a chilling opening line as explorers prepare to delve into the seas of Antarctica.

We know more about the surface of Mars than we do about the deepest parts of our seas.

Now we can dive into these uncharted depths to see what secrets lie beneath.

Sinking down the submerged wall of an iceberg, we enter an unforgiving world.

Surrounded mostly in darkness viewers are shown creatures that look like they have stumbled straight out of Guillermo del Toro film.

Like the Humboldt squid.

Or this eel which we definitely wouldn't want to see in our garden pond.

One segment was literally called "The Twilight Zone" or "The Sea of Eternal Gloom."

Seriously, what is this? Middle Earth?

There was a toxic lake at the bottom of the ocean, which was full of all sorts of nastiness.

The most disturbing and downright terrifying moment has to be when they found a whale carcass that was being eaten by giant sharks.

Don't forget when the shark decided to attack the submarine the crew were inside.

You can see that clip in the video at the top of this article.

Needless to say people were pretty traumatised.

To make matter's even better BBC Earth did a spoof of the Stranger Things opening.
