People are bidding thousands of pounds on eBay for 'debris' from Prince Philip's car crash and no one is impressed

2019 is already turning out to be pretty strange, isn’t it?

If you didn’t already think this, you undoubtedly will when hearing the news that debris said to be from a crash involving the Duke of Edinburgh has been put up for sale on eBay. Yes, really.

After the 97 year-old Duke was involved in a collision in Norfolk last week, seller morbius777 claims to have part of the debris.

Bizarrely and creepily, the listing said the items "may even have Phil's DNA on it, if you wanted to clone him or anything".

Apparently this is something people are interested in, with the listing receiving 139 bids with a current price of £65,000. Proceeds from the auction are allegedly being donated to Cancer Research UK.

The eBay post said the listing was for three plastic parts, not glass, saying:

These items are not stolen, they have been left at the roadside for way too long.

It amazes me that they weren't cleaned up on the day. So, as opportunists do, I tidied them up.

There's no financial gain in this for me, all proceeds going to charity. It's a bit of fun, and Cancer Research get to benefit.

Philip’s crash, which involved an uninjured baby and a 45 year-old woman who broke her wrist, has prompted a wider debate over whether there should be further regulations or restriction on elderly drivers.

Nevertheless, social media users were less than impressed about the new eBay listing.
