This BBC newsreader really doesn't care about the Royal baby's due date

BBC News and other outlets made a breaking news announcement that third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be due in April 2018.

The announcement follows one made three months earlier that HRH Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton was pregnant.

The BBC's Simon McCoy was (true to form), a little bemused by the idea this was breaking news.

Reading from a statement from their Royal Highnesses, McCoy said the couple were 'delighted to confirm' the baby's due date.

Now bearing in mind they announced that she [Middleton] was pregnant back in September and it was thought she was around two or three months pregnant I'm not sure how much news this really is.

The newsreader's lack of enthusiasm for certain stories has won him plaudits before, such as his coverage of a dog surfing show, and previous royal baby announcements from Kensington Palace.
