Ryan Reynolds is trying to buy a small Welsh football club and people are very, very confused

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElenney are in talks to buy a non-league football team in Wales.

Yes, that’s right, that Ryan Reynolds. The star of Deadpool and Detective Pikachu.

The Hollywood icon, alongside Mac from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, was recently revealed to be one of the two people interested in taking over Wrexham AFC.

The club, which plays in the National League, is currently fan-owned. The fans of the club voted overwhelmingly (95 per cent) for the talks with the two Hollywood stars to proceed.

If the takeover happens, that could lead to £2m being invested in the tiny Welsh club.

But, understandably, everyone is confused.

Why would two LA actors invest in a small football club near the Welsh border?

People really are in disbelief about it.

This wouldn’t be the first time a major celebrity has invested in a football club, though.

LAFC, for example, has a star-studded ownership line-up. The list includes Will Ferrell and Magic Johnson.
