In further proof that everyone lets you down eventually, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has criticised the so-called 'generation snowflake.'

In an interview with The Daily Star, the 46-year-old actor and former wrestler reportedly believes that the current generation is "looking for reasons to be offended" which is detrimental to those that "fought for freedom and equality."

I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks, who they vote for, what they voted for, what they think, but I will back their right to say or believe it.

That’s democracy. So many good people fought for freedom and equality - but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.

If you are not agreeing with them then they are offended - and that is not what so many great men and women fought for.

Although Johnson agrees that that society has progressed in the past few decades he is said to have added that the snowflakes are "actually putting us backwards."

We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years. People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.

That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.

Talk about a swerve that we didn't see coming...

This statement is a little surprising from someone like The Rock, whose overall goodwill, charity and positivity dominate his social media output.

However, a few prominent Twitter accounts have locked onto his snowflake statement and have begun to shower praise on the Fast and the Furious star.

Whilst there has been a lot of support for the Rock's comments criticism has been aimed in his direction with people believing that they are misguided with some pointing out his political leanings.

UPDATE: The Rock has since denied the interview ever took place and that quotes attributed to him are "100 per cent false".
