Theresa May's possible replacements are in and people are not impressed

Theresa May has promised to resign as prime minister if Tory ministers back her final Brexit deal.

It’s a desperate bid to push her deal through, and it got people guessing at who might be the next prime minister of Britain.

Too soon? Probably.

Still, bookmakers have made Michael Gove, the environment secretary, their favourite. Other names being bandied around include home secretary Sajid Javid, foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt (which would give us lots of awkward news interviews), former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab and Boris Johnson, who called May’s plan “dead.”

The prospect of a general election - and the list of possible Tories in the running - has suitably alarmed a few people...
