Donald Trump defends Tiger Woods comments about their friendship and respecting the office of the president in his latest tweets

Eleven years after his last big win, golfer Tiger Woods made headlines yesterday for winning the Masters in what some are calling one of sports’ “greatest comebacks”.
But his victory has been overshadowed by a reminder of his unlikely friendship with one of the most controversial US presidents in recent history.
Donald Trump live tweeted the event showing support for Woods, calling him a “great guy”.
Some followers were unimpressed that the president seemingly has nothing more important to do than watch the golf.
And wondered how far Trump will go in overshadowing Woods’ win:
Meanwhile others have resurrected a quote from Woods from last August, when he was asked about his alleged friendship with the president, and responded that “you have to respect the office”.
Woods has been in out of the limelight over the past decade due to various injuries and a high-profile cheating scandal and split from his wife Elin Nordegren, who chased him out of the house with a golf club.
He was also arrested for driving under the influence and there have been rumours of domestic violence.
Trump has repeatedly praised the golfer, who said last year that he’s known Donald for a number of years: “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”
