A photograph of what appears to be two Trump supporters standing on the Great Wall of China with a sign reading 'walls work' has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

Taking to Twitter, user @Makno20 posted a photograph of the couple standing on the Great Wall of China appearing to hold up a sign that says 'Walls Work'. He accompanied it with the phrase:

Genghis Khan literally walked around these walls....

He then added a few extra thoughts about how neo-liberalism, imperialism, and capitalism all create the influx of economic immigration...

Ouch, well, that's a bit awkward, isn't it really? Perhaps it would have done the Trump supporters some good to have checked their history books before getting all over excited.

Anyway, it goes without saying that people on social media were quick to pick up on the badly thought through argument, and it got well and truly dragged.

If there's one thing we've learned, it's never EVER post a photograph of yourself holding a piece of white paper onto the internet.

Someone went for a wholesome take. Hurray!

No they don't...

Ouch! My little brain...

Wow, that's getting personal.

Like, really personal.

Impeach Trump! Oh, wait a minute...

One of Donald Trump's key pledges all through his election campaign and time in office has been to build a border wall across the entire border with Mexico.

Mr Trump argues that $5.7bn (£4.5bn) is needed to build his wall, which was the signature promise of his election campaign. However, Democrats have consistently argued that Trump's wall is a waste of taxpayers' money, and a stand off led to the longest ever government shutdown in the history of the United States - 35 days between December and January, reports the BBC.

However, since Mr Trump entered the White House, work on the barrier has only just begun, and Congress has only approved $1.7bn in funding for 124 miles of replacement barrier.
