These two tweets demonstrate the hypocrisy of Trump perfectly

Donald Trump has levelled yet more criticism against the media and, this time, the US president is attacking anonymous sources.

Using his favourite mode of communication, he took to Twitter:

When you see 'anonymous source’, stop reading the story, it is fiction!

His tweet could be a reference to his Lanny Davis, the lawyer of his former legal rep Michael Cohen, admitting on Monday that he was the anonymous source for the powerful story written by CNN on the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting.

This isn’t the first time he’s attacked anonymous sources.

During a rally speech ahead of midterm elections in November, the US president criticised journalists using those kind of sources in their stories.

‘Seventy-five per cent of those people are downright dishonest, he said. ‘Downright dishonest.’

They’re fake. They’re fake. They quote sources, 'a source within the Trump organisation said', a source. They don’t have a source, they never use names anymore.

You know in the old days, you have to use names. 'Jim Smith said that Donald Trump is a bad guy.' They don’t do that anymore.

They say a source within the administration, they make the sources up, they don’t exist in many cases.

As per usual, Trump’s own Twitter history provides ammunition against him.

In an infamous tweet from 2012, he bolstered the rumour that then president Obama wasn’t born in America citing an ‘extremely credible’ unnamed source saying Obama’s birth certificate was a fraud.

And Fox journalist Charles Gasparino claims Trump was once an anonymous source.
