Feminist video games critic Anita Sarkeesian has endured death and rape threats for daring to highlight sexism within the industry in her Tropes vs Women in Video Games project.

Writing on Tumblr, she explains that it can be "difficult to effectively communicate just how bad this sustained intimidation campaign really is". So Sarkeesian decided to show, not tell, collecting 158 tweets directed at her from Tuesday 20 January to Monday 26 January.

The messages included people urging her to kill herself, threatening to kill her, wishing her dead, comparing her to a Nazi, calling her a whore and threatening to rape her in front of her family.
