Why we should always be sceptical about opinion polls

According to this opinion poll, anyway.

A YouGov poll for the Sunday Times's Red Box into, among other things, Ed Miliband's leadership included questions for the public on whether they had heard of certain senior Labour figures.

Among them was a dummy question about Andrew Farmer, a made-up politician who nevertheless around one in six people claimed to have heard of.

Ukip voters were the most likely to admit never having heard of 'Andrew Farmer', while almost one in five Labour supporters claimed they had heard of him.
