Cardi B mocks Ben Shapiro after he recites and condemns explicit ‘WAP’ lyrics
‘This is what feminists fought for,’ the right-wing pundit ranted
Cardi B has appeared to ridicule the right-wing pundit Ben Shapiro, after he recited the explicit lyrics to “WAP”, her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
Shapiro, the co-founder of the conservative opinion website The Daily Wire, has been roundly mocked after condemning the track.
After reciting lyrics from the song, Shapiro expressed disgust. “This is what feminists fought for,” he said. “This is what the feminist movement was all about, and if you say anything differently it’s ’cause you’re a misogynist, see?”
In response, Cardi has shared a number of tweets mocking Shapiro, including retweeting images of Waylon Smithers, a character from The Simpsons, covering his eyes as half-naked women cavort in front of him.
Cardi also tweeted: “I can’t believe conservatives soo mad about WAP.”
“WAP”, which has rocketed to number one on the iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify charts, has been condemned by a number of conservative politicians since its release last Friday (7 August).
James P Bradley, a Republican currently running for California congress, tweeted his outrage at the track on 7 August.
“#WAP (which i heard accidentally) made me want to pour holy water in my ears and I feel sorry for future girls if this is their role model!” Bradley wrote.
Cardi B this week defended the presence of Kylie Jenner in the “WAP” video, after more than 67,000 people signed a petition to have her cut out of it.
