Robbie Tripp aka 'Curvy Wife Guy' just dropped his debut single titled 'Chubby Sexy' and it's fair to say that people are well and truly divided on what they think of it.
Tripp, a 28-year-old author and activist, first went viral in 2017, when he posted a love letter to his 'curvy wife' on Instagram, in an attempt to criticise those who perpetuate a 'very narrow and very specific standard of beauty'.
The note read:
I love this woman and her curvy body. As a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones who were shorter and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to as "chubby" or even "fat."
Then, as I became a man and started to educate myself on issues such as feminism and how the media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean) I realized how many men have bought into that lie.
For me, there is nothing sexier than this woman right here: thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc.
Her shape and size won't be the one featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan but it's the one featured in my life and in my heart.
There's nothing sexier to me than a woman who is both curvy and confident; this gorgeous girl I married fills out every inch of her jeans and is still the most beautiful one in the room.
Guys, rethink what society has told you that you should desire.
A real woman is not a porn star or a bikini mannequin or a movie character.
She's real. She has beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty.
Girls, don't ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated.
There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah.
After it went viral, the backlash was real, and it soon became a brutal meme, with people mocking his heartfelt attempt at a body positive message, with many pointing out that most men should love their wives, and they shouldn't be awarded special extra points if those women happen to be curvy.
Now, Tripp is back, this time with a music video and single, called 'Chubby Sexy', and it's fair to say that people are pretty divided on what they think about it.
Tripp describes the track as a 'body positive summer anthem encouraging women to celebrate their bodies'.
Fancy a little taste of the lyrics? No? Well, sorry, no such luck.
My girl chubby sexy. Call her Bonita Gordita.
She rocking that peach emoji like hey nice to meet ya.
She got thick thighs, stretch marks, big booty.
She looks like a snack, I'll take her out to eat.
Forget that skinny type that's so 1980
She like a dude that's woke, we like a girl that's weighty
Forget that thin frame, we need a plump sweetie
She like a dude that's fresh, we like a girl that's meaty
Yea she got bigh thighs like a mermaid
Chillin in her swimsuit drinkin kool aid
Got stretch marks yeah they tiger stripes
Get you the model, get you the curvy type
Some say, a chubby girl? That's risky
But they ain't met a curvy girl that's frisky
Livin my best life with my curvy wife
I ain't slept in weeks, she keeps me up at night
Yes, I think you get the picture.
It goes without saying that as soon as people on social media got wind of the new song, it got well and truly roasted.
Some reignited the 'chubby girl' meme.
Others thought the whole thing was just pretty terrible.
He did it! He smashed the patriarchy!
Oh god no
Others support body positivity but... aren't so sure about this guy.
However, some did genuinely like the song.
Most were pretty unimpressed.
Ouch. So, I'll take it that's not a five-star review?
In case you're REALLY inquisitive, here's the whole thing. We hope you're prepared.
