Here at the indy100 we're huge fans of JK Rowling.

As is our audience - you love reading about her latest Trump takedown. Or you love to hate reading about it. Either way, you're here.

The writer of the Harry Potter series will be bringing another book to the moving pictures - we're not referring to the Fantastic Beasts series, but a detective novel.

Strike: The Cuckoo's Calling, features Tom Burke as Cormoran Strike, a war veteran turned private detective.

He and his assistant, Robin Ellacot, are based in London and solve crimes that have eluded the police.

It's definitely not Sherlock Holmes.

Ben Richards, who adapted the first novel in the series, The Cuckoo's Calling, for TV, told the Guardian:

It does feel very different tonally and visually from other crime dramas.

There’s something interestingly retro about it while also remaining contemporary – it does have a bit of a Morse-like quality.

Even the humour is similar – I was watching an old Morse the other day, and the great thing about that series was that it was funny but the humour wasn’t arch or crazy – it just came out of everyday scenarios.

There is a gentleness to it which I think has been missing for a long time in crime dramas where we’re often a bit too obsessed with having crazy twist after crazy twist.

The series starts 27 August on BBC One.
