Trump's impeachment proceedings have been dominating the news, and late-night talk shows, for a while now.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, host Kimmel first delivered a monologue about the impeachment and the rules Mitch McConnell proposed for the trial.
Under the rules going forward the trial won’t even begin until 1 p.m. every day, which seems a little late, but in fairness, that is how long it takes Senator McConnell to get to the Senate floor.
In a segment of the show entitled 'Lie Witness News', Kimmel took to the streets to ask people how they voted in the trial (which, obviously, they can't actually vote in).
Surprisingly, everyone featured lied – even going as far as describing the busy queues at their polling station or saying that the wait wasn't too long.
After that, however, people's lies got more shocking.
Most people interviewed said that they voted against impeachment – with one saying, "it felt empowering to speak my voice", and adding, "you've got to get out there and speak your mind".
One man said:
I voted against the impeachment, everyone needs a second chance, we all make mistakes.
When the interviewer probed to ask whether it was important even to vote in fictional elections, one man even said yes – without realising the joke was on him.
Another even said that he texted McConnell directly to cast his vote.
Honestly...where do you even start with this.
