It’s not a surprise that John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have less than amiable feelings for Donald Trump. (Though it’s a bit concerning if anyone would feel otherwise at this point.) In fact, the most stable couple in celebrity-dom have an ongoing feud with the president at this point.
Both Legend and Teigen have taken digs at Trump for a while on Twitter.
The beginning of their feud dates back to the 2016 election.
Legend also had some more thoughts on Trump’s inauguration.
Then in 2017, Teigen replied to one of Trump's tweets, saying “no one likes you”. Trump didn't exactly take it well.
Basically, they tweet about the president a lot. They practically own hating Trump.
Last year, things really heated up when Trump tweeted about Legend and Teigen directly after ranting about criminal justice reform. “Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is - but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed,” he tweeted.
The two then proceeded to annihilate him.
Now, in an interview with Cosmopolitan, Legend admitted that the pair have even considered moving out of the country.
Every once in a while you think about it. We were born and raised here, all of our families are here. It would be hard to leave. But I don’t know what one’s supposed to do when you have a leader who is trying to destroy democracy.
At some point, if that project [to destroy democracy] was to be in any way successful, you’d have to think about going somewhere that is a true democracy, that has respect for the rule of law and human rights. If America chooses to be that place then people will have to start thinking about going somewhere else. It is truly disturbing and concerning.
Elsewhere in the interview, Legend called Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic “embarrassing” and expressed that the country “can’t bear another four years of this”.
Well, he’s not exactly wrong.
