Kanye West has had quite a strange year.

The internationally renowned rapper has been prolific in the music scene writing and producing five albums.

His Twitter output has also been a source of discussion as it has ranged from the bizarre to the controversial.

Yet the most notable moment of Kanye's year so far has to be his endorsement of president Donald Trump, which upset quite a few people.

Last night Kanye appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and engaged in an often entertaining, strange and beguiling interview.

Topics ranged from mental health, fashion, pornography, music, his children and, of course, Donald Trump.

The majority of this topic was dominated by Kanye explaining his support for Trump, which he tried to justify with a strange and sometimes incoherent speech about 'love and fear'.

A few months ago, when Kanye spoke positively about Trump online, it was later revealed on a song on his latest album that his wife, Kim Kardashian West, was not happy with her husband.

However, Kim did visit president Trump a few weeks ago on behalf of a 62-year-old great-grandmother who had been given a 22-year sentence for a first-time drug offence.

Kimmel asked Kanye how he felt about Kim visiting the White House, to which he replied:

She’s super passionate about it and it was amazing for her to see that dream come true.

The talk show host also asked Kanye what his feelings were about Kim being in the Oval Office with Trump and whether he was worried, given Trump's previous history with women.

In response, the rapper gave a simple and to-the-point answer:

Well, he is a player.

The audience reacted to his answer with a smattering of applause and laughter.

Quite why a man with a known history of bragging about sex offences should be a punchline for a joke is beyond us, but this is 2018 and we honestly don't know what is going on anymore.
