Scott Derrickson, the director of the 2016 Marvel movie Doctor Strange has shared a never-before-seen video of Benedict Cumberbatch visiting a comic book store in full costume.
While filming the movie about Marvel's 'sorcerer supreme' Cumberbatch and Derrickson took a brief time out to pop their heads into a comic book shop that just happened to be near where they were making the film in Manhattan.
In the short clip, Cumberbatch says:
I’m about to walk into a comic store in Manhattan dressed as Doctor Strange, come with me.
Once inside the shop, the employees and the customers almost cannot believe what they are seeing but the two behind the counter soon start to exchange jokes with the British actor and have a few photographs taken with the star.
Before leaving the store Cumberbatch quips that if the movie doesn't work out for him (it did) could he come and work in the shop? The store owners agree but only if Cumberbatch speaks in an American accent, which he then smoothly transitions into his Dr Stephen Strange voice.
Amongst all the uncertainty and worry that has been caused by coronavirus, this small clip gave many the uplift that they needed.
As an added bonus here is the picture that Cumberbatch took with the employee at the comic store who is called Rene Rosa.
There hasn't been a new Marvel film released this year due to the pandemic, with fans still waiting to see when Black Widow, which was the next film in line, will be hitting cinemas. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness was due to be released in 2021 but has now been pushed back to 2022.
