On Monday David Cameron caused considerable joy after being caught singing “a little sorrowful tune” as he re-entered Downing Street.

Following his announcement for Theresa May as the new prime minister, Cameron, apparently forgetting a microphone on his lapel that was still on, strolled into Number 10 humming the tune many believe to be the theme from the West Wing.

Now Graeme Coleman, who works in web accessibility, has taken on the admirable task of remixing Cameron’s hum to a 90 second jam that’s worryingly catchy. He put the Cameron remix together on his laptop using a couple of samplers and a built-in synth.

“Remixing and composing is a bit of a ‘serious hobby’ of mine, although I don’t do as much of it these days as I have a proper day job,” he told indy100.

“I have my own home studio that I’ve built up over many years.”

Asked whether he believed it was the West Wing theme, he suggested that it could actually be the theme to Gone With The Wind, which definitely fits. Check it out and let us know what you think.

“I’m totally apolitical,” he said when we asked him how he feels about incoming prime minister Theresa May. “All I can wish her is ‘good luck’!”

We’ve been humming Graeme’s remix since we first heard it – hopefully it’ll make it onto Radio 1. Any day now...
