The former president and CEO of the Time’s Up movement has stepped down amid allegations of sexual assault made against her son.

Time’s Up announced in a statement that Lisa Borders resigned on Monday within 24 hours of the allegations being brought forth against her son.

Time's Up unequivocally supports all survivors of sexual harassment and abuse,” the official twitter account for the group posted on Thursday evening.

The announcement continued: “On Friday, Lisa Borders informed members of Time's Up leadership that sexual assault allegations had been made against her son in a private forum. Within 24 hours, Lisa made the decision to resign as President and CEO of Time's Up and we agreed that it was the right decision for all parties involved.”

“All of our actions were fully guided by our support for survivors,” the statement said.

The organisation was established after allegations against former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein surfaced over a year ago, leading to numerous allegations being brought forward against other male celebrities.

The movement also brought forth accusations against men in politics, media, and other industries.

She concluded: “I appreciate the opportunity to support this mission and I hope my efforts will continue to resonate.”
