Ever wondered what it’d be like to survive an avalanche?

Well, you might not have to wait until nature decides to create one to experience this, because avalanches have been added to the list of things humans are creating on purpose.

Authorities in Utah triggered an avalanche on 2 January, in Wasatch-Cache National Forest, just east of Salt Lake City. The purpose of this was to clear a dangerous build up of snow high on a mountain slope.

John Gleason, a public information officer at the Utah Department of Transportation, posted video of the avalanche on Twitter and it immediately went viral.

On social media, people were obsessed with the video.
