How middle class are you? The number of these items you own will explain

Throwing in 'middle class' as a derisory adjective is turning it into something of a placeholder phrase in snipey remarks.

Despite this, the majority of people still describe themselves as such.

According to a poll by Esure fewer than 1 per cent of British people describe themselves as upper class.

Forty per cent of people describe themselves as 'middle class', and apparently there's a way of finding out if you are too... by looking at the items in your house.

The list and results were compiled by class and etiquette expert William Hanson, whose explanations we've put into this nifty little quiz.
