A post on Facebook about one man's act of kindness has been liked all over the world.

It described a man on a flight to Atlanta, Georgia, who comforted the crying child of a pregnant woman.

According to the post, which was signed off 'Angela Byrd', the unnamed man, a complete stranger to the pregnant woman, walked her son up and down the aisle for the whole flight.

Byrd's post was initially shared by 6,000 people, but since then the story was posted on 'Love What Matters', where it's gone viral.

The story was also posted on 'GA Followers - Everything Georgia' in September, but has since gathered momentum due its value as an example of kindness - 32,000 people and counting have shared the heartwarming story, and they're still going.

As to why the post has proven so popular, many of the commenters have stated they're simply pleased to see positive news.

There's also possibly another reason.

In the post, Byrd concludes:

I was in tears...not because he was white and she was black...but because it showed me today that there are still GOOD people out there in a world full of turmoil
