A woman in New Jersey burnt a Pennywise doll (yes, the demonic clown) and slept with a knife after it landed in her garden.

Renee Jensen had been sitting behind her apartment in Harrington when she noticed something.

Flying over the side of the gate near her property was a squat, stuffed version of the Pennywise doll, an evil being that steals children in Stephen King’s horror novel IT, recently made into a feature film – with an upcoming sequel.

The doll’s forehead was stamped with a string of letters in black marker.

It was really scary.

Jensen initially thought it was a bird, and upon closer inspection she discovered that it was in fact the monster clown.

“Did a freaking bird die in mid-air or something?” she told NJ.com.

I turned it over and I jumped back and dropped the thing and yelled for Alex.

He picked it up and I was freaking out. It was creepy and it had weird...I don't even know what the writing was. It looked culty.

Jensen’s boyfriend had been getting ready to leave for work, so she reported the doll to the police.

She said police officers had refused to touch it, so when they left, she decided to take drastic action.

"They left and then I burnt the thing," she said.

I tried to burn it with a lighter. The stupid thing would not light because it has the flame retardant.

Then I put olive oil on it. Still wouldn't light. Then I put newspaper on it and light it up on fire.

That night, she slept with a knife, she said, adding:

I didn't want this thing on my property. I know people think it's crazy but...it's creepy.

Fair.
