People have been sharing what going to an orgy is really like and it's not at all glamorous

What's an orgy actually like? Internet anonymity and Google incognito means you too can find out, but this article is much safer for work.

When you think of an orgy? What comes to mind? Something glam. No? The orgy probably takes place in a swanky hotel. Maybe there are blind folds! But nice ones, not like aeroplane eye masks.

Reddit users have been posting about their real life experiences of orgies. Apparently there are some real world problems that intrude on even the most intimate of gatherings.

For one thing, logistics can be a problem.

One thing I've always felt that makes sex less enjoyable than it could be is that people are HEAVY! Arms fall asleep, cramps in leg, etc.

'Etc'

Others pointed out that the people you're imagining at your orgy are really, really, ridiculously good looking:

It is common for people to wear masks at swinger parties. This is not for anonymity.

Emotions can get in the way too, because apparently swingers are clingy. One person recalled getting badgered on a regular basis to have an orgy:

Like 9 in the morning they would want to come over. I'd tell them I'm at work, and they'd be like 'I'll come over after lunch then'. No you won't, I don't work a 3 hour day - I'll still be at work. Constantly.

Similarly, even if you like your orgy friends, scheduling and diary management tends to take away the sexiness.

The excitement wore off after about 4 separate occasions. It was a wonderful experience...but the amount of time and effort that goes into scheduling something like this is a huge pain in the ass.

Then there's the actual human biology of a lot of people in one room going at it.

So many different smells - none of them pleasant and they get stronger as the orgy continues. Body parts get very close to your face and many times they're attached to the gender that you don't want to get very close to. At the end you're covered in the bodily fluids of both sexes and you're trying to not slip on used condoms.

Some people don't take part but they're still present.

I had to DJ for an orgy party. There were more than 100-200 people doing it on the dance floor and I was employed to play the whole set without lifting my head to look. it was sooooooo [sic] awkward...

And if you prefer your sex to have a classical setting you will be disappointed.

It was a lot less like Caligula and a lot more like somewhat average people having sweaty sex in open doors rooms across a little house.

There were plenty of positive posts about real orgies.

Gone to the same swingers party a bunch of times. Had some amazing experiences that I'd only ever seen in porn. Literally a giant room full of people f---ing. It's initially very confronting, so a bit of wine helps, but thankfully I'm pretty comfortable walking around naked!

Also some unexpected pre-orgy chatting.

What no-one told me is that you generally have a meet-up right beforehand. The one I was involved in had a very social restaurant meetup.

But an orgy can be almost TOO sexy.

I was invited to an orgy with 8 guys, they were all insanely hot, everyone was intimidated and it was kind of lame. It was an example of too much choice ruining things.

So that's orgies. We've mostly learned to lower your expectations.

Thanks Reddit.
