A new report has revealed the inaccuracy of public perception across 33 countries, comparing average guesses from the public with statistics across a range of issues.
The Perils of Perception report 2015 by Ipsos-Mori found that the UK was the 13th most ignorant country across a range of issues where we overestimate or underestimate the demographics of our population, such as the percentage of immigrants, obese people or the average age.
The least accurate country to guess demographics was Mexico, whereas the most accurate was South Korea. Ireland was the second most accurate country.
