A tiny, tiny portion of cheese

Images from a new app show exactly how much of one foodstuff equates to 200 calories of energy.

Although that sounds like a fairly generous amount of calories, the pictures from Calorific highlight that some foods are indeed higher in calories than you might think.

Like this tiny portion of apple pie

Or this incomplete bagel

Many tiny portions of meat

Sweet things in tiny amounts

Some fruit and veg are particularly high

Although, more lettuce than you can shake a stick at...

The NHS recommends that within a healthy diet men should eat around 2,500kcal a day, while women should eat around 2,000kcal a day.

To see all 100 images of food that equate to 200 calories, you can download the Calorific app from the iTunes store for £1.99.
