The relationship between teacher and student is special. We all had a favourite teacher in our day.

Sometimes though, students can test anyone's patience.

Teachers on reddit have shared some of the most smart Alec responses they were given to questions:

Q: What’s another way you can express surprise in English?

A: Kid yells from the very back of the room: "WHAT THE F--K!?"

Q: Why do some people see some technology as positive, and others see the same technology as a problem?

A: Because some people are Amish

Q: Write the following numbers in all letters (3, 14, 21)

3: four

15: sixteen

21: twenty-two

Q: A man has to get a fox, a chicken, and a sack of corn across a river. He has a rowboat, and it can only carry him and one other thing. If the fox and the chicken are left together, the fox will eat the chicken. If the chicken and the corn are left together, the chicken will eat the corn. How does the man do it?

A: Let the chicken eat the corn, and let the fox eat the chicken. Then bring the fox over.

Q: Why are you late?

A: The bell went off before I got here.

Q: [In an exam] Can you name three models of DNA replication?

A: No

Q: [At the end of the semester, to developmental psychology students] What was the most interesting or important thing you learned?

A: Babies are stupid and old people still have sex.

Q: When is a time you have used integrity?

A: I wash my hands after going to the bathroom, even if no one is in there.

Q: Name a compound word.

A: Asphalt.

Q: There isn't a single language, not one, in which a double positive can express a negative. [Is there?]

A: Yeah, right.
