Tory MP asked if he's ever taken drugs, replies: 'You don't put diesel in a Ferrari’

Instead of opting for a straightforward "yes" or "no" when asked if he'd ever taken illegal drugs before, Tory MP Johnny Mercer opted for something slightly more offbeat.

Speaking in a quickfire round of questions during BBC 5Live's Pienaar's Politics on Sunday, the Plymouth MP and former soldier told the host:

You don't put diesel in a Ferrari, d'you mate?

Mercer, who starred in a US advert for Dove shampoo before the 2015 election, also batted away questions on why he'd never voted before and on rumours that his wife had vetted his female staff.
