We've all been there. You're in a supermarket but with all that food around, you start to feel a bit peckish but can't really eat anything.

There is that old trick of eating, say, a packet of crisps then scanning through the empty packet when you are done but that's not really on, is it?

However, it's a lot more acceptable than what one woman did at a Walmart in Lufkin, Texas last week.

In a clip that has gone viral on Twitter, an anonymous woman is seen licking the top of a tub of ice cream but rather than buying the dessert instead puts it back on the freezer shelf and continues shopping.

Whilst this little viral prank may have been a laugh for those involved (and 28,000 retweets would suggest that a lot of people found this amusing) the local police force did see things to be quite so comedic.

According to CNN, law enforcement are searching for the woman who faces charges of tampering with a consumer product, a possible fine of $10,000 and a sentence of two to 20 years in prison.

The producers of the ice cream, Blue Bell, have reportedly inspected the freezer in question and removed all the half gallon tub of the 'Tin Roof' flavour that was licked in the video.

In a statement, Blue Bell said that the footage was a 'malicious act' before adding:

The safety of our ice cream is our highest priority, and we work hard to maintain the highest level of confidence of our customers.

Food tampering is not a joke, and we will not tolerate tampering with our products.

However, the Walmart store seems to see the incident in a more candid light. On the stores Facebook page they allegedly shared then deleted a picture on an employee holding a water pistol with a caption reading:

We're guarding our Blue Bell Ice cream for your Weekend party, what a great way to cool down in the Hot Texas heat!
