Bill Clinton and Benjamin Netanyahu were all smiles this week as the former US president arrived in Jerusalem to attend the memorial of Yitzhak Rabin - the former prime minister who was assassinated 20 years ago.
Taking to Twitter, the current Israeli prime minister explained that the pair had discussed the country's security and what needed to be done about terrorism.
But the relations haven't always been so friendly between the pair, with Clinton remarking in private following their first meeting in 1996:
Who the f--k does he think he is? Who's the f---ing superpower here?
According to Haaretz, the comment was reported in The Much Too Promised Land, the memoirs of Aaron David Miller, who has served as an adviser to a number of secretaries of state on Israel-Palestine diplomacy.
Clinton supposedly made the comments after Netanyahu, in his first spell as prime minister, "lectured" the then-president on the situation in the Middle East.
The White House spokesman at the time also referred to Netanyahu as "one of the most obnoxious individuals you're going to come into".Picture: Getty
