Back in September, the renowned chef angered some of his fans when he unveiled his take on the classic British meal which is being served at London’s Savoy Grill.
The dish includes two eggs, a portobello mushroom, a few slices of bacon, a sausage and a grilled tomato, along with a small portion of baked beans on the side.
You might ask where the rest of it is – well, that’s it. No hash browns, no black pudding, no toast.
But it’s the price that irked people even more. It’ll cost you £19 to try Ramsay’s English breakfast, while additional sides cost £5 each.
While the chef is famous for dishing out insults, this time it was his turn for some harsh criticism from his followers, who balked at the extortionate price for such a small portion.
“I think the word you are looking for is ‘part,’” one person responded. “The only full thing I see here is the teacup.”
Even Burger King wasn’t too pleased. “Where’s the rest of it?”its Twitter account said. Being roasted by a fast food chain must be a new level of insult.
The Michelin-starred chef has since responded to his critics in a statement to Insider. "I stand by it,” he said. “I swear by it. And it is one meal that I would ever eat as a last supper. It has to be a full English breakfast with extra baked beans."
Ramsay also had something to say to those who didn’t like the £19 price tag: "And you know what? If you're worried about the price, you can't f***ing afford it.”
Agree to disagree on what constitutes a full English breakfast.
