Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was very excited to see someone at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.

Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin hadn't talked face to face in over a year, when Japan followed the example of Europe and the US and imposed economic sanctions on Russia because of its role in the ongoing Ukrainian crisis.

But it looks like Abe might have missed him quite a lot. When Abe found Putin already waiting for him at the presser, he shot across the room, pumping his arms and beaming, to grab the Russian's outstretched hand.

Abe told the assembled reporters they were looking for the "best time" for Putin to visit Japan to talk further.

BFFs again?
