Are the Trump children the First Snowflakes?

On Tuesday, actor and producer Marlee Matlin was one of many to criticise President Donald Trump over his response to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, which took place over the weekend.

Matlin is best known for her roles as pollster Joey Lucas on the West Wing, and her leading role in the 1986 movie Children of a Lesser God.

Her tweet was shared by 3,000 people, which in the grand cosmos of Trump related tweets isn't that high a number.

(This from the guy with fewer than 500 followers).

Immediately following Matlin's tweet, reporter Ashley Feinberg shared these screen shots from her phone.

It appeared to show that the three elder Trump children, Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. had all unfollowed Matlin in response to her tweet.

Perhaps they found it triggering and an invasion of the safe space of a Twitter timeline?

The alerts came from 'Trump Alert', which is a Twitter account known as a 'bot' which posts whenever there is an update of note from the accounts of the Trump retinue.

Feinberg's post got three times as many retweets as Matlin's original post, and more than double the number of likes.

Outlets such as the Washington Journal reported that Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. had all unfollowed Matlin.

But did they?

The creator of the Trump Alerts 'bot' posted a thread, clearing up some details.

Which evidently is not a guarantee that someone actually unfollowed someone else.

They explained it can also be because an account was suspended.

Marlee Matlin account has not been suspended.

In 2016, Matlin responded to allegations that Donald Trump, during his time as host of Celebrity Apprentice, had referred to her as 'retarded'.

In a statement, shared on Twitter she said:

The term is abhorrent and should never be used...

I am Deaf. There millions of Deaf and hard of hearing people like me, in the United States and around the world who face discrimination and misunderstanding like this on a daily basis. It is unacceptable.

In a statement to People magazine at the time of the allegations, a representative of Mr Trump’s denied the initial report by the Daily Beast - saying in a statement:

Marlee Maitlin is such a nice person, and Mr. Trump has great respect for her, but this report is completely false.

indy100 has contacted Marlee Matlin's agency for comment, so for now, we think this response will cover all bases.
