This is Tess Munster, who sometimes goes by the name of Tess Holliday.

The 29-year-old, from Mississippi in the US, has become the first woman of her size to be signed to a major modelling agency.

MiLK Model Management announced the contract with plus-size division Curves in a post on Instagram:

She's such an important role model for so many women.

  • Anna Shillinglaw, owner and director of MiLK Model Management

Tess is a size 24 in the UK and about 5ft 5in tall, making her bigger and shorter than any model signed by Curves in the past.

She has amassed a huge following on social media in recent years after starting the #EffYourBeautyStandards campaign, which tried to help women feel positive about their bodies.

Tess told the Huffington Post:

I understand not everyone understands what I'm about. But to me it's such a simple concept. It's all about loving your body regardless of your size and chasing your dreams.
