Retail workers’ kindness left a mother of a dying boy in tears after her trip to B&M in Liverpool.

Toni Bluck had her eye on a hanging chair and went to an outlet on 27th March to purchase it for her young son Caelan, who suffers from a rare muscle disease, however did not have enough to purchase it.

A few days later, she went to another branch but they did not have it in stock. Leaving and returning again to try her luck, she was still unsuccessful.

When she arrived at the shop for a final time, she explained that she was desperate to give her son “all that she can” to the store manager and her and her son’s situation. After hearing about her troubles, it was decided she could take the display chair home.

She said, “I hate saying no to him, he doesn’t ask for much and I want to give him all that I can before he passes away.

“She agreed for me to have it and got some of the lads to take it down. I burst out crying; I couldn’t explain how grateful I was for their kindness.

Caelen’s father Nathan Chapman and Toni go to Manchester each fortnight for treatment to “keep him alive as long as possible.” and are trying to get as much quality time together.

“Once we got home, he got straight into the chair - he was so excited.

“He kept saying ‘I love it” he stayed in it for six hours”

“He is never comfortable in chair or wheelchairs due to his illness. It’s very hard to keep him happy for a long period of time when it comes to seating, but this chair was great for him.”

He has no prognosis for his life expectancy but does rely on a life support machine.

B&M’s Leigh store manager Debbie said, “When he heard the customer’s story, we knew we wanted to help her find an egg chair.”
