She may have spent the best part of the past few years campaigning for the break-up of the Union, but Scotland's first minister did her bit this week to create a whole new one.

While at an SNP event in Oban on Monday, Nicola Sturgeon was asked by a man named Paul if she'd help him propose to his boyfriend, Ian.

While Paul bent down on one knee, Sturgeon popped the question to a delighted-looking Ian.

Sharing a series of pictures on her official Twitter account, the SNP leader said she was "delighted to report" that Ian said 'yes'.

We think there's a joke to be had about Sturgeon and the 'yes' vote but we can't quite nail it so instead we'll just say congratulations to Paul and Ian.
