A woman on TikTok has gone viral after she admitted that she has to call her husbandbaby’ because she doesn’t know how to pronounce his name properly.

A video shared by the American woman with the username @maybebrea has been married to a Swedish man for three years but has struggled to get a grasp on his name.

In the short clip, she goes through several pronunciations of the name which are all along the lines of Ragner or Ragnar but hasn’t quite gotten a handle on the Swedish dialect, which can be very specific.

‘Seriously how do I pronounce his name before he sees this?’ she wrote in the caption for the clip.

This must have been a huge conundrum for her and a massive revelation to make on such a public platform. For context, maybebrea has more than 2 million followers on TikTok and at the time of writing the video has been viewed more than 13 million times.

The original TikTok was posted on 10 March and three days later she shared another video, this time featuring her husband who reveals how to say his name.

However, this clip only ends up presenting us with more answers as he reveals that it can be pronounced as ‘Ragnar’ in Sweden but in Finland, it could be ‘Rakknar.’ We can see why his wife is confused...

The biggest question we have after all this is did he not notice that his wife had never said his name for three years?

It reminds us of that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry is dating a woman but doesn’t know what her name is other than it rhymes with a part of the female anatomy...

Anyway, we recommend following maybebrea’s account as it is a fascinating insight into what it is like attempting to learn and acclimatise to life in a new country –in this case, Sweden.
