Space is hard, says astronaut who watched SpaceX explode

This was the view of US astronaut Scott Kelly after a SpaceX rocket carrying food and supplies to the International Space Station exploded minutes after takeoff in Florida.

Falcon 9 broke up minutes after launch from Cape Canaveral, in full view of Kelly and other astronauts on the ISS.

It's not clear what caused the explosion, with Nasa only tweeting that "something had gone wrong".

Tech entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk, who owns and operates SpaceX, tweeted:

The ISS has around four months of food and supplies on board.
