If you follow actress Isla Fisher on social media, then you’ll know that she never posts about her three children, nor does she talk about them in detail publicly.
The Confessions of a Shopaholic star has now explained her reasons behind in this in an interview with Marie Claire Australia.
“Motherhood is actually my favourite topic, but I keep it private,” Fisher said. “I think all parents are trying to protect their kids, especially in the social media age.”
“I want our children to have a normal childhood, being able to play outside without pressure or scrutiny,” she continued. “All kids have the right to just be kids, and I would never sell a film or magazine by speaking about [mine].”
Fisher shares her three children with Borat star, Sacha Baron Cohen and have always kept them out of the spotlight. The family relocated to Australia last year, where Fisher grew up from the age of six.
Though Fisher does frequently post about her husband on social media. The A-list couple have been married for 11 years after meeting in 2002.
It’s not the first time that Fisher has spoken about wanting to give her kids’ privacy.
She previously explained to Today Parents: “If you speak about your children or if you take them to a red carpet event, you can’t be litigious later on when there is a picture of them in something and say, ‘Hey, they deserve anonymity,’ but they do.
“They have rights too.”
She added: “It’s a very conscious decision, and truly I would feel really disgusting about myself if I used my family to sell something,” Fisher added. “It wouldn’t sit right with me. It doesn’t line up with my values.”
It’s heartwarming to hear Fisher’s reasons behind choosing to keep that side of her life private.
