Two journalists in India are trying to adopt a baby girl who went viral for the awful condition in which she was found on the street.

The baby girl was left abandoned on a dirt road in India and went viral, and journalists Vinod Kapri and Sakshi Joshi are in the process of legally becoming her parents.

The pair shared the first pictures of the three of them together, along with the rest of their family in the hospital the baby is recovering in.

Though the newborn's condition initially seemed serious, Vinod who was previously an editor for the National Hindi News Channel TV9, revealed that the "little angel is doing fine," though she is just! 1.6kg" which is a cause for concern.

They have called her Pihu, which means ‘she is great’ in Hindi.

Sakshi, a news anchor and associate editor for the Hinidi news channel News 24, also used Twitter to keep people updated, captioning her picture: “This is final post from me.”

The whole Kapri family is dying to have her in the family. We will try our BEST to adopt her as per rules and guidelines. The whole Thanks a lot for all your love and support #HappyFathersDay

Vinod also posted a short video of little Pihu’s progress to recovery, writing: “Latest video of little angel.”
