Biden says some Republicans think he’s sucking blood out of kids

U.S. President Joe Biden had an interesting response to a reporter who asked whether the Democratic Party supports defunding the police: Do people think he’s sucking the blood out of kids?

In a TikTok shared by CBS News, President Biden is seen speaking with members of the press on the South Lawn after deplaning Marine One. The President had just returned from filming a televised town hall in Cincinatti, during which he defended the Democrats against accusations that the party was “anti-police.” However Biden continually reiterated that the Democratic Party is not defunding the police, contrary to right-wing belief. “I said that that is not the Democratic Party’s position. I’m the Democratic Party. I am president. So is the speaker of the House, and so is the majority leader. We are not defunding the police.”

In the CBS News video, Biden proceeds to double down on this statement. “We are not defunding the police, and have not,” he tells the press. The president then proceeds to walk away, but is stopped by yet another question regarding the Democratic Party allegedly supporting the defunding of police.

“Are there people in the Democratic Party who want to defund the police?” a reporter asks, despite Biden’s repeated claims that no, they do not. Biden turns around to face the reporter, and slowly approaches the press. He then casually queries, “Are there people in the Republican Party who think we’re sucking the blood out of kids?” He is, of course, referencing an absurd QAnon conspiracy theory.

The reporter, unsure how to respond, stumbles over her words but manages to say, “I — I’m not sure,” before launching back into a series of questions regarding Democrats and defunding the police. Meanwhile, President Biden is seen walking away from the scene, laughing at the chaos he’s just caused.

Biden fans are extremely impressed with how he handled himself —and, of course, amused by how the encounter played out.
